After extensive searching, we did not find any supports to successful attainment of professional status from a cultural/societal perspective. The current culture of North America is one that does not value children. In fact, it is an insult to be considered "childish". This lack of value is seen in the funding that supports the education and support for children. The society we live in would love nothing better than to pawn our children off on the lady next door, and let's give her five dollars an hour for her efforts - because really, all she's doing is sitting at home and watching television while the children play.
